Two designs from the Furniture and 2D Design categories have been awarded the 2021 Jonathan Hindle Prize for outstanding design.

DGM 249 TO1 Cross Chair, designed by Luke Pearson and Tom Lloyd for TAKT, and DGM 255 Identity and Strata Collection, designed by David Irwin and Rachel Evison for Bute Fabrics, as the winners of the Jonathan Hindle Prize for outstanding design.

The winners were announced at the Design Guild Mark ceremony, which took place on Wednesday 2 June via Instagram Live.

The Jonathan Hindle Prize is awarded to the most outstanding of the year’s Design Guild Mark awarded pieces in both the furniture and 2D categories. Both winners will receive a stunning trophy, which was made from solid surface Corian®, and a £1,000 cash prize.

DGM 258 Oceanic, designed by Jodie Padgett for Camira, and DGM 259 Introvert Extrovert, designed by Nathanael Hunt for Haberdashery, were also highly commended.

Jonathan Hindle, sponsor of the prize, said: “This year’s winners of the Jonathan Hindle Prize utilised exceptionally innovative thinking to create products that are unique and have meaning beyond their face value. This good design is why British manufacturing is still one of the forerunners in the world industry and why celebrating it through the Design Guild Mark and the Jonathan Hindle Prize is so important.”
