Homelife Style: Tom Rawlings

Design Guild Mark - July 1, 2021 - 0 comments

In the latest Homelife Style, Tom Rawlings, head of design at William Hands Furniture and designer of 2021 Design Guild Mark awardee Aspect Table, talks to us about his haven.

Tom, tell us about your home and its décor.

Home décor is relatively low key and simple – white walls, neutral tones and generally a singular accent colour theme in each room. Wooden furniture and décor features are prevalent throughout. The house has several souvenirs or artefacts from previous travels, and with two young children, our house is full of family portraits, toys, games and all the other paraphernalia that comes with parenthood.

My favourite room is the kitchen / dining room area as it is the brightest and most energetic space. Unlike the rest of the house, it has a lot of geometric fabrics and captures the early morning sun all the way to early afternoon. It always manages to feel light and airy. On the wall hangs an ornate tiled pattern brought back from a holiday to Seville.

What do you like to do to blow off steam?

I am a keen walker and cyclist and living on the edge of a village in Buckinghamshire allows unhindered access to the Chilterns. Daily walks and cycle rides are something I am grateful for and find the most rewarding, particularly seeing how the seasons change. Since buying a pizza oven I have been developing and practicing my pizza making skills!
