Judging day images 2019

Design Guild Mark - May 2, 2019 - 0 comments

Judging day 2019

Following two outstanding judging days in March, we are really excited that our expert panels of judges have selected the pieces that will be awarded a Design Guild Mark in 2019. We can’t wait to announce this year’s holders, but until then we thought we’d tease you with a few images from the judging days.

The Furniture category judging once again returned to the grand setting of Carpenters’ Hall in the City of London in March.

As always, there was lively debate between the judges after each of the designer’s presentations as they decided whether a piece met the bar of design excellence.

One of the key emerging trends Furniture category judge Tom Pearce noticed was a drive toward cleaner and greener furniture that has no adverse impact on our environment, by using responsibly sourced organic materials, down to the choice of wood glue.

Meanwhile, the 2D category judging this year moved from Furniture Makers’ Hall to the naturally lit surroundings of Morgan Furniture’s Clerkenwell showroom.

The spacious setting was very conducive as the judges were able to switch between examining the submitted designs as a seated panel and explore them further on the showroom floor.

Here are some of the images from the 2D judging.

We’d like to say a big thank you to The Carpenters’ Company and Morgan for hosting our 2019 judging days, our judges for volunteering their time and of course all of the designers who presented.
