The show must go on

The show must go on

The end of the year is usually a time for reflection on one’s highlights, but as 2020 is a year many of us would rather forget, we thought we would focus on the future instead of dwelling on the past.

By now you will probably have read that the 2021 Design Guild Mark judging days will take place virtually for one year only to ensure the safety of everyone concerned.

While obviously disappointed that we’re not going to have the normal three days of convening some of the best and brightest minds in the UK design community, we’re pleased that we have a viable way forward for the year.

And I am sure that there will be many people delighted that they won’t have to cart their design into a central London venue at the tail end of winter. We say this having flashbacks to the snow storm in 2018…

Something positive to come out of the crisis of 2020, though, is the adaptions we have made in our work practices by adopting technology in order to navigate the storm of COVID-19. We are of course not alone in moving our normal ‘in real life’ format to a virtual environment while the chaos subsides.

To close the year off, we thought we’d bring you details of three more events that are preaching the show must go on (virtually) in early 2021.

Architect@Work London Digital Summit

Architect@Work (27 & 28 January 2021) has always represented the most cutting-edge innovations in architecture, products and materials. For this reason, the show is adapting to the current conditions around live events and are moving its physical show into a digital summit format. The show fully intends to return to the exhibition space in 2022 but for the time being it has gathered some of the brightest minds from the design community to discuss the burning issues of the day, concerned with how we can best create a built environment that cares for our health and wellbeing.
